This is going to sound weird but MEAT MAKES NO SENSE

WHY IS “THE MEAT” LA VIANDE BUT “SOME MEAT” DE LA VIANDE?! LIKE THAT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE TO ME SHOULDN’T IT JUST BE DES VIANDE WHY DOES LA STILL HAVE TO BE THERE

If it were plural, then it WOULD be “des viandes” - you have to have the ‘s’ on the end there, though. That’s more like just meat, plural, though. (And actually if you were going to pluralize “la viande” it would be “les viandes” because “la” is a definite article - “des” goes with “un/une,” which is indefinite.) “De la viande” is “some meat” because “de” is a partitive - you use it when you’re talking about a part as opposed to the whole. (Also, if you’re using “de” with a masculine noun, it becomes “du” and not “de le” - so like “some cheese” would be “du fromage,” not “de le fromage.”)

So because meat isn’t the entirety of something, it is de la viande instead of du viande?

Okay so, the Doctor is from out of space but does he only breathe oxygen like everyone else? Does Gallifrey have an atmosphere like Earth’s? Because I’d never thought about it before now but he seems to be struggling just as much as everyone else and he does seem to have the same basic anatomy as a human, other than the two hearts.

Gallifrey’s atmosphere is 77% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen and 2% other, which means that it’s similar to Earth’s atmosphere, but it’s a bit thinner.
The Doctor needs oxygen as well, but Time Lords have a raspiratory bypass system that allows them to go without breathing for a longer time span than humans.
